Meet Luke Tucker

Even though there are so many possibilities that come with a church plant, I’m really looking forward to it being an intense, loving environment that pushes me to do hard things for the gospel.

Please meet Mr Luke Tucker! Luke was the very first person to join us on this church-planting endeavour and his email regarding joining us was met with whoops and claps of joy! We are so very excited to have this funky sock wearing, barefoot guitar playing and on-fire-for-God uni student with us. Luke’s heart to reach the lost is so encouraging and we know that through him, God’s message of salvation will be expressed.

We have asked him some questions for you all to get to know him better and also to remember to pray for him through this journey with the church plant.

What are you currently studying/where are you working?
This year I’m starting my second year of a Bachelor of Arts at Sydney Uni, double majoring in History and English. This semester I’ll be studying American literature, Medieval History, Medieval English, and Roman history.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?
Can I travel through time too? If I could jump in my TARDIS and go anywhere, anytime, I think I would go to Rome at the collapse of the Republic (around late 1st century BC) - hectic times. If I’m constrained, then I’d love to sip apple tea in Istanbul during the winter.

Besides being involved in a new church what has been the craziest thing you have done?
I asked my dad and he said “you’re not that crazy, Luke” so maybe there’s your answer.

If you pressed me it would probably be when I was 18 and on a recent family holiday in Turkey. I went for a joy ride in our rental car through a snowy mountain passé in Capadocia. Even though it really wasn’t actually that dangerous, I was uninsured so it could have ended badly.

Please pray that I would forge strong relationships with the rest of the core-group, and that the church plant would nurture godliness and encourage me to tell my friends about Jesus.

What are you most excited about in being a part of the church plant?
Even though there are so many possibilities that come with a church plant, I’m really looking forward to it being an intense, loving environment that pushes me to do hard things for the gospel.

In such a small core group where it’s pretty much impossible to coast or be stagnant, I’m most excited to be pushed to keep growing, not for my sake, but that I will end up producing fruit for God’s glory that I didn’t think I was capable of.

Where do you hope Rozelle church to be in 5 years time?
I hope that God shapes Rozelle into a church that teaches the Bible truthfully and helps people who haven’t met Jesus to know Him.

How can people be praying for you?
I’m a fair bit younger than most of the other core-group members so far, so prayer for wisdom would be excellent. Please pray that I would forge strong relationships with the rest of the core-group, and that the church plant would nurture godliness and encourage me to tell my friends about Jesus.

More than anything though, please pray I would forget myself and not constantly worry about how I’m going and keep remembering what Jesus has done.
