Over 700 years before the birth of Jesus, the Songs of the Servant in the Book of Isaiah describe a servant that was chosen by God to be a saviour to the world.

However, the puzzling thing is that this servant was not a saviour that the world expected but instead is described as a tender shoot that is met with rejection, hostility and violence.
